Man Crush Monday, Transformation Tuesday, Woman Crush Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, and now thanks to 113 Industries there is Fancy Friday. Okay, the last one you may not have heard of yet, but you should educate yourself on this great new trend that is sweeping the nation.
This might be a slight exaggeration, but it is a tradition we have in our office here at 113 Industries. On a given Friday when the most employees are in the office, an assigned person will bring in one of their favorite fancy treats and drinks for everyone to enjoy. We’ve enjoyed everything from homemade pinwheels, to different kinds of desserts, delicious beverages, or everyone’s favorite meal: Brussels sprouts that I made. It’s up to the person whose turn it is to decide on what they want to bring and how much effort is put into it.
It doesn’t matter if it’s your family’s favorite recipe or something you bought in the store the night before, we all enjoy stepping away from our desk for an hour to create a fun atmosphere in the office.
Although the food and drinks are great to enjoy, building relationships with coworkers and promoting a positive company culture is the best aspect of Fancy Friday. Getting to know your coworkers on a personal level can make it easier to collaborate on work related items as well. The more comfortable you feel around them, the more likely you are able to speak up about your unique ideas about the work or company in general.
113 is a smaller company with 11 full times employees currently. Getting to know your coworkers is going to happen whether you like it or not. However, in larger companies, happy hours or team building events similar to our Fancy Friday can be extremely helpful in developing the positive company culture and high company moral that employers are dying to achieve. When seeking out help or collaborating on a project, knowing the personality and knowledge of your coworkers can help get things done more efficiently.
Fancy Friday has become a great tradition at 113 Industries, and the bonds were making over some food and drinks will help everyone have more fun while working. Although this takes place a few days a month, the effects can be seen every day as people continue to improve collaboration, efficiency, and company moral. Small, medium, or large size company doesn’t matter. Team bonding will always be a key aspect of improving all things work related.
